CURRENT POSITION

Dr. Abhishek Job Dondapati is an Assistant Professor at the Dr. Kakarla Subba Rao Centre for Healthcare Management, Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI), Hyderabad β€” one of India’s most respected institutions for management education and governance capacity-building.

In this role, he leads teaching, research, and curriculum development across post-graduate programmes in hospital and healthcare management (PGDHM). His teaching portfolio spans Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare, Fundamentals of Data Analytics, Health Informatics, and Biostatistics.

He also serves as Guest and Visiting Faculty at NMIMS and the University of Hyderabad, teaching Management Consulting Practice, Marketing of Diagnostics, and Hospital Management Information Systems.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

Dr. Dondapati has a rare interdisciplinary academic background spanning nursing sciences, business management, and informatics β€” positioning him at the intersection of clinical realities and data-driven healthcare management. He holds a PhD in Management Sciences (Informatics and Analytics) from the University of Madras, Chennai, completed with an ICSSR Doctoral Fellowship from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. His thesis focused on factors influencing healthcare providers’ intention towards e-health adoption. He holds an MBA from the School of Management Studies, University of Hyderabad, awarded the UGC Professional Scholarship, and a BSc in Nursing Sciences from the same university. He has earned multiple academic honours including UGC NET in Management Studies and the prestigious Seal of Excellence from the European Commission’s Marie SkΕ‚odowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (Horizon Europe, 2025).

PAST EXPERIENCE

Prior to joining ASCI, Dr. Dondapati served as a Postdoctoral Researcher (Artificial Intelligence) at the School of Management Studies, University of Hyderabad (2023–2024), where he led mixed-methods studies on embodied conversational agents (ECAs) in healthcare and consumer perceptions of anthropomorphic chatbots. He applied machine learning and deep learning techniques (PyTorch) to develop predictive models identifying systemic gaps in the Indian healthcare landscape. He has served as consultant to the Health Department, Government of Telangana; the National Health Authority (NHA) for Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) workshops; LEPRA Society for clinical data analytics; and institutions including L V Prasad Eye Institute, Telangana Tourism Development Corporation, and Central Water and Power Research Station.

CURRENT INTERESTS

His research interests lie at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, digital health, and human behaviour. He specialises in Sociotechnical Systems and Human–AI Interaction, AI Adoption, Trust, and Technology Acceptance, Behavioral Interventions in Digital Environments, Digital Health, Health Communication, and Policy, and Societal Impacts of AI-Mediated Decision Making. His technical toolkit includes Python (PyTorch), R, PLS-SEM (SmartPLS, AMOS), Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), meta-analysis, NVivo, and MAXQDA.
